New Parents Meeting 15.5.14
Posted: Fri 17 Jul 2015 | Governors
I was invited to attend this meeting to say a little to the parents of children starting school this September about the work of the Governing Body. New Governor Harminder Dhangal was also there as his daughter is starting school in September too.
The meeting was very well attended and the Mrs Colley and all the staff made everybody feel very welcome. It was interesting to hear staff talk about the school, the organisation of the school day and the curriculum on offer. Parents also heard from volunteers who run the “Walking Bus” which provides an excellent free service for busy parents making sure their children walk safely to school and Friends of Highfield who raise lots of money for the school and also organise social events throughout the year. We were also offered tasters of typical school meals which tasted delicious and had a chance to see the children’s classrooms.
It was a very well organised and informative evening and we all learned a great deal about the Foundation Stage of Learning and how the school prepares to welcome its youngest students.
