This week is National Breakfast week and so I decided to tell the children all about porridge. Porridge was invented thousands of years ago when humans first began farming. Porridge was eaten by the Romans, the Tudors, The Ancient Greeks and The Victorians. Porridge is eaten as a breakfast meal all over the world. Porridge is part of our culture. We all know the story of goldilocks who got into so much trouble for eating the three bears' porridge. I reminded the children of the importance of fueling our bodies first thing in the morning. We also discussed how breakfast is a compund word - break and fast. I have a feeling lots of Highfield children will be asking their parents if they can try some porridge next week!
