School Council Meeting -Wednesday 8th October

School Council Meeting -Wednesday 8th October

Posted: Fri 17 Jul 2015   |   Governors

I attended the latest School Council Meeting this week and enjoyed listening to the lively debate.

As always the meeting was well organised and gave all the Council Representatives a chance to raise issues and suggestions from pupils in their class. Areas discussed  included how the new arrangements for school meals were going and there was an overwhelming positive response from all pupils , particularly the quality of the meal, the  faster pace of the lunch service and the new use of antiseptic hand wash which saved a lot of time. There was also a discussion about the designing of the Alwoodley Constituency Flag and why the school had been invited to be responsible for its design. It was agreed that the School Council would decide on the winning design holding a vote in the meeting. The flag will fly outside the Houses of Parliament as part of the celebrations of the 750 th anniversary of the foundation of Parliament and 800 years since the Magna Carta was signed.

Each Representative was also able to raise an issue which one of their class had listed in the Orange Class Book. These included uniform , holding Special Days e.g. non uniform , fund raising events , improving facilities in the playground and how pupils in school communicate with each other. These issues will all be added to the next meeting’s agenda.
