Symbols at Christmas

This week I shared with the children some facts behind some of the objects we see at Christmas. Did you know that the fir tree was chosen as a Christmas tree because its evergreen colour represents the everlasting hope of human kind. Sugar candy canes represent the shepherd's crook and how any lost sheep can be returned to the flock. The bells at Christmas represent guidance and and were used again by shepherds to gather their sheep. Father Christmas of course represents generosity and kindness.
I wish you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas.
