Healthy Schools

Highfield Primary School lays the foundations for life by offering a rich, enjoyable and fullfilling experience for all its pupils. It is characterised by a broad and balanced, creatively delivered curriculum, facilitated by high standards in literacy and numeracy and ICT. We aim to prepare our children to be citizens of the future - promoting well being through safe, healthy lifestyles and nurturing respect for others. Social, emotional, spiritual and cultural development is a priority, ensuring all children feel valued. We are proud of our inclusive ethos.
We have a firm commitment to enable all our children to succeed as well rounded individuals. This is underpinned by strong relationships with parents/carers and the community, enhanced by experiences beyond our immediate environment.

Every child is offered the chance to achieve their full potential in a well supported atmosphere that inspires passion for learning and a firm foundation for life - a place where we want to be!

Sport is highly valued at Highfield.

Every class has 2 hours per week of timetabled PE and Games. Children in Year 4 go swimming every Friday to Scott Hall swimming baths. The school has extensive grounds including a large playing field, a sporting games area and a large school hall. We have sporting teams including netball, football and gymnastics who take part in  tournaments and matches with other school throughout the year.

We buy in external coaches for sports such as cricket, gold, dance and skipping. Every June the school takes part in the Roundhay Park School Fun Run as well as a week long Fit Week dedicated to keeping physically and emotionally healthy.

Travel Plan

We work hard to encourage our parents to travel to school with their children by foot, bicycle or scooter. We have a walking bus and ample cycle and scotter storage areas in school.
